Making your own songs and chants

Teaching English to young learners.

Songs are ideal for making repetition fun. Most books have their songs, they fit in the content we want to teach but sometimes we over use them or they don’t have a song for every structure or vocabulary.
I use tunes of songs children know and change them, they fit perfectly because young children learn chunks of grammar.

For example, let’s suppose that you are teaching the family using the structure: Who’s this? This is my mom.  Sing with the tune of “Campanero ¿dónde estas?” the following song I made up using the structure.

Who’s this? Who’s this?
This is my mom. this is my mom.
I love my mom, I love my mom, I love my mom.

Who’s this? Who’s this?
This is my dad, this is my dad
I love my dad, I love my dad, Iove my dad.

So I added the “I love my dad” part you can add many other  things. You can try with other topics and tunes like Twinkle Twinkle Little star, The Old McDonald had a Farm, B.I.N.G.O, etc.
