| The school year starts at the beginning of January and lasts until the middle of October. Spanish is the language of instruction for all primary and secondary schools in Guatemala. However, students at the lower secondary level and those in the academic track of eh "Diversificado" or High School cycle must take a foreign language in each year of the program, and the preferred or recommended one is usually English. |
